Jade Velvet lawn is a lush, deep-green, superior grass, with a slow and dense, weed-free growth. As it is slow growing, it needs less maintenance: fewer mowings, less water, less fertiliser, fewer herbicides. The grass is also shade tolerant, requiring a minimum of only 3-4 hours of sunlight, and is resistant to most pests and diseases. It is highly wear tolerant and can withstand fairly heavy foot traffic, making it the ideal turf grass for commercial lawns, resorts, athletic and sports fields, industrial parks, and even decorative home lawns. But why are Jade Velvet solid sod-carpets really unique?

Normally, grass sod is supplied from local nurseries in slabs of 1’×1’, 1’×2’, or maximum 2’×2’ size with a thick base layer of earth. This sticky earth retains not only unwanted weed root systems, but also retards fresh growth of new roots.

Jade Velvet’s solid sods come in standard sizes, typically 2’×2’ carpets that reduce the number and length of cut-edge seams by 20-30%. That means you get much more ‘live’ grass plantlets in your sod carpet. Therefore there is much less die-back at the cut-edge seams: more value, more deep green grass.

But the really unique characteristic is that Jade Velvet lawns are specially grown under a diet of organic compost and SANJIBAN Bio-Stimulants that promote an exceptional matted-root system. This allows us to send you our sod carpets bare-rooted, without any earth-base! This gives Jade Velvet unique qualities and advantages:

A Pennsylvania State University study showed “thick lawns slow the velocity of runoff and allow the water to infiltrate.” Differences of the magnitude of 15 times between runoff from a high quality lawn and that from a patchy lawn with a lot of weeds have been documented. This also prevents erosion by water or wind and the loss of valuable topsoil.
Dense turf absorbs, deflects, reflects and refracts sounds. Grassed slopes beside motorways reduce not only glare but also noise by 8 to 10 decibels.
A well-maintained lawn adds substantial value to a house or business property. Also, fire retardation by buffer areas of well-maintained lawn grasses around buildings is good insurance.

Care and Maintenance of Jade Velvet Lawn

Jade Velvet turf provides one of the best lawns that nature and good horticultural techniques can produce. Because it is a natural growing crop, the degree of purity will vary both, from field to field and season to season. Changes may also occur due to variations of soil, irrigation and weather. But with good preparation and management, the Jade Velvet lawn will establish and adapt to its new growing conditions. The end result should be an attractive lawn, very pleasing to the eye.

Please remember, however, that as with all living growing plants, there are no short-cuts, nor easy answers to perfection. Growing lawn grass is no exception. Only regular care and attention will produce the results you may be seeking. Jade Velvet turf gives you an excellent foundation on which to develop your lawn. After that, it is up to you to nurture, to care and to maintain.

Order & Delivery

As all Jade Velvet turf is freshly cut and washed into bare-root sod carpets, give adequate notice of your requirements. Determine exactly how much turf-grass sod you need and where you will use it before you order.
Allow upto 10% extra turf-grass for trimming and fitting around irregular areas, mounds and slopes. Ensure enough skilled labour is on hand to get all the turf-grass installed within 6-8 hours of delivery.
A day before your turf-grass sod is to arrive, thoroughly water the soil to a depth of six inches. The soil should be moist but not muddy before laying out the turf, or planting.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO LAY YOUR Jade Velvet LAWN SOD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTER IT ARRIVES.

If you have to store, open out the carpet rolls to a “holding bed” under a tree-shade and keep the grass moist.

Inland despatches are made by reliable road transport or express train services.
For export overseas, we normally suggest shipments by airfreight, so that the consignment reaches you within 36 hrs. of cutting and packing. Care will be taken while packing to ensure just enough moisture is retained and the sods arrive healthy. However, exports by sea freight have also been successful.
